The presence of mold seems to be one of the most common problems in our homes.
Excluding the possibility of leaks from pipes or rising damp, the origin of the mold is always a problem of isolation due to an error in the design or construction of the building that causes the passage and accumulation of humidity.
The problem of mold stains may depend on the total lack of insulation in the walls but it is easier that the cause is an insidious heat bridge, i.e. an area or a point where there is no insulation between the inside and the outside of the wall with consequent passage of humidity from outside to inside.
Below are the main causes of mold with their solutions.
Case 1: bad insulation
If there are thermal bridges or the wall is isolated bad, it must be improved insulation. In this way it eliminates the formation of condensation inside and the possibility that the fungi can survive.
The excess humidity on the wall will be ejected over time. Apply a suitable mold cycle to prevent the residual humidity and to allow the recurrence of the phenomenon.
Case 2: Insufficient ventilation
Realize ventilation holes (or frequent air changes) in kitchens, laundries, bathrooms, cellars. Scarce air exchange in damp rooms causes saturation with steam and subsequent condensation in cold spots. Furthermore, the air becomes saturated the spores of fungi increasing the possibility of contamination.
The excess humidity present on the wall will be ejected over time. a suitable mold cycle to prevent the residual humidity and to allow the recurrence of the phenomenon
Case 3: wrong storage of painting / exterior coating
Restore the outside coatiing. The excess humidity in the wall will be ejected over time. Apply a suitable mold cycle to prevent the residual humidity and to allow the recurrence of the phenomenon.
